The main fisheries for our native common cockle include the Thames Estuary, Morecambe Bay and Burry Inlet. These shellfish are very similar to clams and can be cooked in the same ways. Often associated with trips to the seaside, where cockles are sold in small pots by local vendors. Can be poached or steamed.tarted.
